We hope this message finds you well.

We are pleased to inform you that the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) will be held from 13 to 15 January 2027 in Nairobi, Kenya. This will be the first UNESCO World Conference on ESD to be hosted in the Global South.

The Conference will provide an opportunity for countries and partners to exchange experiences, discuss emerging priorities, and identify areas where regional and global collaboration can accelerate progress in Education for Sustainable Development.

We would particularly like to draw your attention to the following opportunities to contribute to the Conference:

• Call for Proposals Now Open

The Call for Proposals is now open. If you are interested in contributing to the Conference by co-organizing a parallel session, we invite you to submit your proposal through the following form: Call for Proposals for Parallel Sessions of the UNESCO World Conference on ESD (English)

Submission deadline: 31 August 2026

Stakeholders other than governments are welcome to express their interest in participating in the Conference by submitting a proposal to co-organize a parallel session. Applicants must represent an institution or organization that is actively engaged in ESD. Please note that individual applications are not eligible, and only one proposal may be submitted per organization.

• Consultation on the Nairobi Consensus

The draft outcome document, the Nairobi Consensus, has been developed with the support of the Advisory Group for the World Conference. We are currently seeking feedback to help ensure that the document reflects diverse regional perspectives and priorities.
